★① Measured by cut-back method relevant to ITU-T and IEC standards with identical fibers at room temperature. Loss varies due to environment and fiber characteristics.
★② Results obtained in room temperature environment; largely influenced by battery status and operating environment.
★③ Splice & heat cycles based on 40 mm shrink tube / 0.25 mm fiber; may vary depending on battery status and operating environment. The 260T spec page states 300 cycles; the marketing callout states 350 cycles — pending JILONG confirmation of the current figure.
★④ Electrode life varies due to environment, fiber types, and splicing modes.

3. Selection Guide by Network Tier

3.1 National Backbone / Cross-Province Trunk (single span ≥ 100 km)

Reason: The 300T is the only model that explicitly states ≥65% metal content, paired with the Trunk Fusion Splicer positioning. Its 6 s splicing and 10 s heating are the fastest among the four. The 9000 mAh battery delivering 500 cycles per charge means long-haul trunk projects rarely need mid-shift charging. Splice-loss coverage for CS / DS / NZDS is the strongest of the four (CS 0.03 dB), and Auto Fiber Identification plus Auto Arc Calibration reduce on-site parameter tuning. Typical pain point → solution: Backbone networks are highly loss-sensitive; the 300T's Core Alignment + 0.02 dB SM loss is the standard at this tier. 5000-discharge electrode life (with grinder extendable) keeps consumable cost predictable on large-volume trunk projects.

3.2 Provincial Trunk / Metro Network (single span 30–100 km)

Reason: The 280T also uses Core Alignment, with SM 0.02 dB and G.657 0.02 dB matching 300T's level. The 300T–280T difference is mainly in speed and battery, not loss.  Its 6800 mAh / 300 cycles provides strong coverage at the typical intensity of provincial projects. Heating at 18 s is 8 s slower than 300T, but provincial work usually runs at a lower daily splice count than national trunk work, so the practical schedule impact is small. The special designed V-groove and ceramic pressure heads give lower failure rates at medium intensity. Typical pain point → solution: Provincial work often involves retrofitting existing networks; the 280T's 3-IN-1 Fiber Holder + 0.25–3.0 mm + Rubber-insulated compatibility avoids frequent holder swaps in the field.

3.3 FTTx Main Line / Large-Scale FTTH (OLT to splitter)

Reason: FTTx is the explicit positioning of the 260T (per its "Commemorative Edition" branding). Active Clad-Alignment is sufficient for the G.652/G.657 fibers typical in FTTx, and avoids the cost step up to Core Alignment. Heating at 10 s is nearly twice as fast as the 280T's 18 s — in large FTTH projects where heating dominates per-splice time, this cuts labor time significantly. The tool-free hot-swappable OPM/VFL module (configurable) makes module changes easier for FTTx field engineers. The 5200 mAh battery with a 4.3" touch screen gives the 260T a 1.92 kg weight — lighter than both 280T and 300T — which matters for FTTx installers climbing ladders all day.

3.4 Drop-Cable FTTH / Single Span < 5 km / Small-Scale FTTH

Reason: Active Clad-Alignment at G.657 0.03 dB (per the spec table) is sufficient for drop-cable scenarios. The 500E is the lightest at1.06 kg without battery — important when installers carry it hundreds of times per day on drop-cable jobs. The 3.5" screen is sufficient for one-off drop splices. With 8 s splicing / 18 s heating and 220 cycles per charge, the 500E easily covers an installer working 20–50 splices per day. The 1.06 kg / 1.35 kg weight options fit different operator habits.

4. Selection Guide by Core Requirement

Lowest splice loss → 300T and 280T tied (SM 0.02 dB, both Core Alignment). The 300T additionally covers CS 0.03 dB, which 280T does not list.

Fastest splicing → 300T (6 s). Only the 300T achieves 6 s splicing among the four.

Fastest heating → 300T and 260T tied (10 s). The 280T and 500E both heat at 18 s.

Lightest → 500E (1.06 kg without battery). Lightest to heaviest: 500E (1.06 kg) → 280T (1.6 kg) → 260T (1.65 kg) → 300T (2.367 kg).

Longest battery life → 300T (9000 mAh / 500 cycles). The 500E is 4000 mAh / 220 cycles — 2.27× less.

All-metal construction → 300T only ( explicitly states ≥65% metal).

Auto fiber identification & Auto Arc Calibration → 300T only (explicitly stated). The 280T and 260T explicitly state Auto Arc Calibration only; the 500E does not state either.

Outdoor extreme cold / high altitude → all four support this (each explicitly states −20 to 50 °C / 0–5000 m). No special selection is needed for high-altitude scenarios.
